One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid pitcher with tooled rim, the surface coated in cream-colored slip and decorated across the body with two spotted tulip motifs flanking a four-petaled flower blossom. Swag decoration to collar and emanating from the base of the handle. Handle decorated with a foliate motif. Painted restoration to surface of front, including paint to the reddish discolored areas and some minor touch-up to edges of cobalt. No damage, however, is visible on the interior. Additional restoration paint is visible to the exterior and interior of the spout. A 7/8" piece of adhered clay on reverse. H 11".
