Large-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Chester Hewell / CSA," Gillsville, GA, late 20th century, ovoid, double-handled jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including white-clay eyes with brown-glazed pupils, eyebrows, large nose with carved nostrils, ears, handlebar mustache, and open mouth with china teeth. Surface covered in a mottled olive-green alkaline glaze. Underside with incised Chester Hewell signature. Provenance: Carl and Marian Mullis Collection. Excellent condition. H 14 1/2".
