Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "T & J DUCEY / MANUFACTURERS / PETERSBURG, VA," circa 1855-1867, ovoid jug with tooled spout and slip-coated surface, brush-decorated with a leafy stem bearing a tulip flanked by two buds. Cobalt accent to maker's mark. Relatively few examples of stoneware from this pottery have survived. Provenance: A recently-surfaced example, which descended in the family of the consignor. Missing handle. Minor surface wear. H 10 1/4".
