Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS, / MANUFACTURER. / NEW-YORK.," Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1825, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and tapered spout, decorated with a brushed oval around the maker's mark and highlights to the handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, consigned by a Crolius descendant. A 7/8" oval hole in reverse with a few very short lines extending from it. Some typical in-the-firing flaws including a two minor in-the-firing pings to base. H 13".
