Fine One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK," Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1825, highly-ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, brush-decorated with drapes accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A beautifully-potted example, among the most rotund shapes of any Crolius jug that we have offered. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, consigned by a Crolius descendant. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with two minor glazed-over base chips and some old brown residue to underside of handle. H 10 5/8".
