Unusual Miniature Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crock, Midwestern or PA origin, circa 1850-1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, the exterior surface dipped in Albany slip and decorated upside-down with a wavy cobalt stripe and the following lettering: MH / JMAD.GH IS ON." Bottom of crock coated in cobalt slip. Salt-glazed surface to exterior and underside. Albany-slip-glazed interior. Likely decorated by a child. A 7/8" flake to top of rim. H 2 3/4".
