Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with squared rim and arched tab handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a swag-and-hanging-tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a curving line of cobalt beneath each handle. Shallow chipping around bottom edge of jar. A 7" Y-shaped line ascending from base. Some crazing to jar. A few minor rim chips. A nick to one handle. Grease staining. H 12 1/2".
