Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, CT origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, footed base, and open loop handles, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a daisy plant with leaves emanating from the blossom. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 6 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on front. A 5/8" rim chip above one handle. Two small rim chips on reverse. A minor glazed-over rim chip on interior. Staining throughout. An 8" x 4" network of line below one handle. Tight surface-level lines to jar, including a 3 1/2" Y-shaped line at base that continues 1" onto underside, not visible on interior. Base chips. H 13 3/4".
