Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "R. BUTT / W City DC," circa 1835, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and squared rim, brush-decorated with a large horizontal tulip motif around its circumference. A professionally-restored inverted cross-shaped crack extending from midsection to base area. this restoration does not affect the cobalt decoration, except for some possible very minor touch-up to the bottom edge of two leaves. A shallow chip to top of rim. Some in-the-firing crazing to underside, extending a short distance onto base. H 9 5/8".
