Extremely Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Profanity, Stamped "HART'S," Fulton, NY, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, featuring the slip-trailed cobalt word, "F*ck." This jug, likely made in jest or as an expression of a potter's bad day, is the first example of 19th century American stoneware that we have seen bearing this word. A small chip and minor nick to spout. A 2" glazed-over vertical line at base. A 1 5/8" in-the-firing fissure on underside. H 10 3/4".
