Miniature Stoneware Grand Army of the Republic Bean Pot with Elaborate Inscription, probably Norwalk, CT origin, Dated Nov 21, 1883, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, the surface dipped in Albany slip and incised with the following inscription: Buckingham Post No 12 GAR / Nov th 21, 1883." The "Camp Fire Buckingham Post" of the G.A.R. was located in Norwalk, CT, indicating this jar was likely made in that city. Excellent condition with a minor rim nick. H 2 3/4".
