Very Rare Wilkes Barre, PA Stoneware CROCKERY STORE Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Evan R. Jones, Pittston, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a large horizontal tulip motif. Impressed at the shoulder with highly unusual advertising for "S W. SCHLOSS, / CROCKERY STORE / WILKESBARRE, PA." A thin 3 3/4" in-the-firing crack on underside, continuing 4 3/4" up reverse. A very faint, approximately 6" horizontal hairline at base on reverse. H 9 1/8".
