Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Wilkes Street Pottery, Alexandria, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, brush-decorated with two sweeping floral motifs and a vertical tulip. Made at the Wilkes Street Pottery while under the ownership of merchant, Hugh Charles Smith. A 2 3/4" hairline from rim. A discolored, recessed spot to front. A small filled hole in underside. Small rim chips. Two tiny base nicks. H 8".
