Copper-Glazed Redware Mug with Snake-Form Handle, American, possibly Southern U.S., late 19th century, cylindrical mug with footed base, the handle modeled in the form of a snake with incised details, the exterior surface covered in a lead-and-copper glaze. Interior with clear lead glaze over a light-orange ground. Reminiscent of George Ohr pottery, this work appears to be loosely-inspired by the American Art Pottery Movement. Loss to snake's mouth. Otherwise excellent condition. H 5 7/8".
