Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Hotel Advertising, attributed to the Fulper Pottery, Flemington, NJ, early 20th century, Bristol-slip-glazed shoulder jug, featuring the slip-trailed cobalt advertising, "Grand Union Hotel. / Michele Lubrano. / Proprietor." Michele Lubrano, an Italian immigrant, appears in the 1913 Norwalk, Connecticut, city directory as the proprietor of the Grand Union Hotel in that city. A 1 1/2" x 1 7/8" flake to base of jug. An additional shallow base chip and minor in-the-firing fissure at base. A small, shallow chip and two minor nicks to spout. H 10 3/4".
