Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. MANTELL / PENN YAN," circa 1860, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a tulip plant featuring two blossoms flanking a looping stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and lower handle terminal. A 9" vertical hairline extending from neck to midsection on jug's left side. Staining to surface. A large Y-shaped hairline on underside, extending 2" onto base. H 16".
