Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Master Salt, American, probably Ohio origin, second quarter 19th century, wheel-thrown form on pedestal base carved into an octagonal shape, decorated with alternating impressed motifs of S-curves and flowers above triangles. Cobalt highlights to decoration, rim, and bottom edge. Large rim chips. Lesser chipping to base. H 2" ; Diam. (across top) 2 1/2".
