Outstanding Miniature Stoneware Jug with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Greensboro or New Geneva, PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooled spout, brush-decorated with a vertical, tripartite vine bearing three Germanic tulips and numerous graduated swags. Additional tulip blossom motifs to shoulder. Cobalt stripe to base and highlights to handle terminals. Brimming with delicate brushwork, this jug ranks among the most finely-decorated examples of miniature stoneware from Western Pennsylvania known. Presumably made as a child's toy or salesman's sample. Restored handle. Otherwise excellent condition. H 3 1/4".
