Lot of Stoneware Articles, Northeastern U.S. origin, 19th century, fragments of a four-gallon ovoid jar with slip-trailed cobalt house scene, stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1855; a three-gallon ovoid jug with cobalt-highlighted maker's mark and capacity mark, stamped "JULIUS NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1840; a cobalt-dipped stoneware bottle, stamped "DR. BROWNS / LEMON BEER," Northeastern U.S. origin, second half 19th century; and a bottle with cobalt-highlighted stamps, marked "E. DEFREEST / ROOT BEER," Northeastern U.S. origin, second half 19th century. Stoneware jar fragments with additional exfoliation to surface. Jug with significant crack including two chips along crack and staining. Cobalt-dipped bottle with a large spout chip, surface wear, a small in-the-firing fissure to front, and staining. Root beer bottle with a spout chip. H (of jug) 14 3/4".
