Rare Multi-Glazed Redware Stump-Form Flowerpot, probably S. Bell & Sons, Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, wheel-thrown form with scalloped rim and heavily-incised bark, fashioned with applied hollowed limbs for additional planting, the surface covered in cream-colored slip, decorated with daubs of copper and manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Full restoration to one hollowed limb. Partial restoration to one hollowed limb. An area of painted restoration to shoulder area. Exfoliation to surface. Chips and wear to rim of flowerpot and one limb planter. H 9 1/4".
