Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1880, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Lesser-seen decoration for this size of vessel. Restored rim chips extending from right side of crock's front to rim above right handle and onto far left side of crock's reverse. A small chip to end of right handle. Two minor rim chips on reverse, one of which is glazed over. H 7 3/8".
