Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Rooster Scene, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1855, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a rooster with turned head, seated on a hill between two split-rail fences, a pine tree, and a stylized shrub. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Broken into sections and reglued with some fill and coloring along breaks. H 10 1/2".
