Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "J. HAMILTON / & CO. / GREENSBORO. PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and rounded rim, decorated with a stenciled shield surrounding James Hamilton maker's stenciling. Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with stenciled "2" flanked by stenciled flourishes. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 12".
