Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churn, Stenciled "JAMES HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO. / PA.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid churn with flared collar and applied lug handles, featuring James Hamilton maker's stenciling at the center, various stenciled flourishes, and freehand stripes to the collar, shoulder, and base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Surface lines to underside, not visible on interior, including one extending 1 3/8" up reverse side of churn. Two rim chips. Small chips and wear to inner rim for lid. Some bubbling to cobalt. Minor staining. Minor surface wear to reverse. H 15 5/8".
