One-Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J.M. HICKERSON / STRASBURG, VA," circa 1880, cylindrical form with squared rim and applied tab handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with an undulating stem bearing a large flower blossom. Impressed under handle with J.M. Hickerson maker's mark. Very nice condition with two small rim chips, two miniscule nicks to one handle, a minor in-the-firing ping to bottom edge, and minor surface wear. Dimensions: H 5 3/4" ; Diam. 8 1/4".
