One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, ovoid pitcher with tall collar, decorated on the front with two-stemmed clover plant design. Swag decoration to spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Unusual triple piercing to reverse of rim, formed prior to firing, to allow the pitcher to be fitted with a metal lid. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some as-made iron deposits. H 10 5/8".
