Two Pieces of Stoneware with Cobalt "Pine Tree" Decoration, Stonington, CT origin, early 19th century, a half-gallon ovoid jug and three-gallon jar, both with stylized brushwork resembling a pine tree. Jar incised "3" on rim. Jug with three short cracks to spout, including a small possibly-reglued flake. Additionally, a glazed-over dent near base and a 1 1/4" flake to midsection on reverse. Jar with significant cracks, scattered exfoliation, a surface flake to reverse and side, a small, shallow in-the-firing base chip, and a few other minor base chips. H (of jug) 10".
