Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Flowerpot with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "A.K. BALLARD. / BURLINGTON. VT," circa 1870, flaring flowerpot with applied lug handles, semi-rounded rim, and original drain hole in underside, brush-decorated with a stylized floral motif accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with a minuscule nick to interior of rim, a few tiny surface flakes above one handle, a tiny flake to same handle, and a 4" X-shaped surface line near base on reverse, not visible on interior. H 11 1/8" ; Diam. (at rim) 13".
