One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "SIPE & SONS / W'MSPORT, PA," circa 1880, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, handle at base on reverse, and applied clay tabs with wood-and-wire bail handle; brush-decorated on the front and reverse with an abstract floral motif including splayed petals. Additional cobalt brushwork to base of spout and highlighting the applied clay tab, handle terminals, and maker's mark. Includes tin covers. A 1 1/2" flake and smaller chip to one clay tab. Areas of exfoliation to base, rim, interior of rim, and underside. A chip to end of spout. H (excluding cover) 9 1/4".
