Exceedingly Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Marble with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry Glazier, Huntingdon, PA, circa 1831-1854, hand-formed marble with brushed tulip decoration in the Glazier style. Salt-glazed stoneware marbles with cobalt decoration are highly unusual. Examples bearing brushed designs in the style of their maker are virtually unheard of. This example is easily the finest stoneware marble that we have ever offered. Provenance: Excavated under the home of Henry Glazier, with permission of the owner of the property. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Diam. 3/4".
