Two Pieces of Norton Family Stoneware, Bennington, VT origin, circa 1855, a two-gallon jug with slip-trailed cobalt floral decoration, stamped "J. NORTON & CO / BENNINGTON, VT;" paired with a two-gallon jar with slip-trailed cobalt floral decoration, stamped "P. WHITIN & SONS / WHITINSVILLE, MASS.," attributed to J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT. Jug with glazed-over base chip, a small spout chip, and minor traces of old yellow paint to surface. Jar with exfoliation to left side of front, a thin 1 1/2" base chip, a minor base nick, staining to surface, and expected wear to inner rim for lid. H 11 7/8".
