Two Pieces of NY State Stoneware, second half 19th century, an ovoid four-gallon jar with slip-trailed cobalt bird-on-branch motif, stamped "RIEDINGER & CAIRE / POUGHKEEPSIE.N,Y," circa 1875; paired with a three-gallon cylindrical jug with brushed and slip-trailed cobalt floral decoration, stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON, / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885. Jar with fry to cobalt and water glass staining to interior and exterior. Later blue paint is used to accent the maker's mark. Jug with a small spout chip, some staining, a salt drip near shoulder, a long salt drip on front, two minor chips to underside at edge, and minor in-the-firing fissures to underside.
