Manganese-Decorated Redware Jar, New England origin, early to mid 19th century, cylindrical jar with recessed footed, angled shoulder, and semi-rounded rim, its lead-glazed surface featuring sponged manganese decoration over a mottled olive-and-orange ground. Wear to rim and inner rim for lid. Light wear to edge of shoulder. A minor base chip. A small, semi-circular in-the-firing crack to foot, which is partially glazed over. H 8 1/8".
