Fine Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN," Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated on the front with a brushed, open-centered floral motif in the Wilkes Street style and on the reverse with three groups of cobalt swags. A shallow 1 1/8" flake to top of rim and minor chip, both in-the-firing. Minor base chips. A short, faint line on underside, forming a short Y at base. An in-the-firing contact mark to right of decoration. H 7 3/8".
