Rare Monumental Salt-Glazed Stoneware Urn, PA origin, possibly J. Swank & Co., Johnstown, PA, circa 1875, ovoid vase with footed base and angular open handles, the surface covered in a varied salt glaze over a mottled light-brown to steel-gray ground. The vase's distinctive color suggests it was made at the Swank pottery in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Exceptional size and wonderful form. Excellent condition with some light traces of blue paint to exterior surface, heavier remnants of blue paint on interior, and a minor 2 1/2" line at base. H 27".
