Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Craigsville, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "LEARD & SONS. / DRY / GOODS & C. / CRAIGSVILLE / PA." Bold cobalt stripe decoration above and below. A sealed crack across underside, forming a large, sealed fork-shaped crack on the left side of the jar and a sealed, fork-shaped crack on the right side of the jar's front, which includes a horizontal crack through the "PA" at base. A smooth in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder area. H 10".
