Extremely Rare Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Snake Decoration, Inscribed "Snake," Roseville, OH origin, circa 1880, tapered form with tooled shoulder and slightly-flared "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a brushed design of the word, "Snake," with stylized, spotted snake forming the letter "S." Additional stylized snake design on reverse. Desirable form with outstanding figural decoration. Three rim chips. Otherwise excellent condition. H 7 3/4".
