One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Wiliam Nichols, Poughkeepsie, NY, circa 1823, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and stepped spout, decorated with a large brushed design of a tulip with curved stem. Cobalt highlights to upper handle terminal. Chips and wear to spout. Short surface line at upper terminal. In-the-firing iron ping to left of decoration and a small in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder. H 11 1/2".
