Five-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. FISHER / LYONS, N.Y.," circa 1885, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a tulip plant bearing two blossoms. Slip-trailed "5." at shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Traces of old aqua paint to surface. Two chips to one handle and a very short, faint line in each terminal of same handle. Small chips to inner rim for lid. A 3 1/4" diagonal surface line to side of churn, not visible on interior. A minor base chip. H 17 3/4".
