Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, PA origin, second half 19th century, a three-gallon ovoid jug with bold cross-shaped floral motif accented with spots and swags, stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865; paired with a two-gallon ovoid advertising jug, inscribed "Rohr McHenry & Son / Rye Whiskey / Benton Pa," Stamped "JAMES RYAN / PITTSTON, PA," circa 1895. Cowden & Wilcox jug with long curving crack on side, extending from base to shoulder, as well as a glaze drip to front. Ryan jug with spout chips and significant cracks throughout, including a possibly reglued section on reverse, as well as a horizontal crack and chip to handle. H (of taller) 15 1/4".
