Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, Norton Family, Bennington, VT, circa 1855-1870, measuring two and three gallons, both of cylindrical form with slip-trailed floral sprays, the smaller stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1870, the larger stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT.," circa 1855. Smaller jug with a few surface flakes to shoulder area on reverse, a small spout chip, some residue to surface on front, and staining to reverse. Larger jug with staining to surface, an in-the-firing iron ping to reverse, and a small, glazed-over spout chip. H (of smaller) 14".
