Rare Large-Sized Stoneware Pitcher with Coggled Decoration, Old Bridge, NJ or Albany, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid pitcher with tapered collar and flaring rim, the base of the collar incised with tooled banding. Collar and body of pitcher decorated with a coggled geometric design featuring horizontal diamonds. Brushed cobalt highlights to coggled designs and handle terminals. Chips and wear to rim and spout. Some staining. A crack across underside, forming a 5 1/4" Y at base on side of pitcher. A 1 1/4" shallow flake to underside, adjoining a minor base chip. A glazed-over base chip. A glazed-over iron ping to shoulder. H 14 3/4".
