Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Foliate Decoration, probably NJ origin, circa 1820, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-open lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt highlighted design of an undulating vine. Incised diagonal dashes to leaves. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A small rim chip. Small base chips. Exfoliation to interior. Some minor crazing to body, minor surface, and a few minor, typical in-the-firing flaws to surface. H 13 1/2".
