Fine Ten-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Profuse Cobalt Decoration, Roseville, OH origin, circa 1875, large-sized, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and vertical strap handles, decorated with a large central apple design surrounded by tornado-shaped brushwork. Freehand "10" flanked by large circles at shoulder. Two additional circles at base. Excellent decoration, size, and form. Very nice condition with two small chips to exterior of rim, a small chip to interior of rim, and a 1 1/8" in-the-firing surface flake on reverse. H 16 3/4".
