Extremely Rare Stoneware Vase with Cobalt Fish Decoration, Ohio origin, mid 19th century, ovoid, wide-mouthed vase with footed base heavily-tooled neck, the surface dipped in a light-colored slip and decorated with a large brushed design of a fish on one side and a flower emanating from the ground on the reverse. Albany-slip-glazed interior. Wonderful form and bold figural decoration. Excellent condition with a few minor nicks to interior of rim and some bubbling to cobalt. H 9 1/2".
