Fine Two-Gallon Vertical-Handled Stoneware Jar with Incised Foliate Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1790, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and ribbed vertical-loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a flower blossoming between scalloped leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. In-the-firing flaws to surface, including two in-the-firing surface chips to one side. Crazing to rim, shoulder, and base. Light crazing to handles. A 1" glazed-over chip to side of rim. H 11 1/2".
