Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, attributed to the Timmerman Family, Lanier County, GA, fourth quarter 19th century, cylindrical form with distinctive bell-shaped spout, covered in a pale-green alkaline glaze over a light clay ground. Bottom edge possibly bears an impressed or inscribed "T." Provenance: Collection of Dr. John A. Burrison, Atlanta, GA; on loan to the Atlanta History Center, Atlanta, GA since 1981. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A glazed-over, horizontal in-the-firing fissure to reverse. Two small in-the-firing fissures to underside. H 9".
