Very Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Pitcher, attributed to the Loy or Albright Families, Alamance County, NC, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base and short, flaring collar, the surface covered in dark-brown manganese slip and decorated with light-colored slip dots and S-curve motif around the shoulder. Midsection with large slip star motifs. Spot decoration to handle. Entire surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Relatively few Alamance County pitchers have survived. Significant exfoliation. A long crack extending from rim to base on reverse/right side. Crude restoration to rim and spout. Handle reglued. Base chips. H 10 1/2".
