Five-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed to Solomon Loy, Alamance County, NC, mid 19th century, wide-bodied, ovoid jar with flattened rim and applied lug handles, the surface covered in a salt glaze with heavy runs and drips throughout, including rutile. Incised "5" under one handle. Essentially as-made condition. Rim is out-of-round. A small in-the-firing base chip. H 11 1/4" ; Diam. (across base) 9 3/8".
