Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Stamped "P. HERRMANN / BALTIMORE," MD origin, circa 1875, a one-gallon ovoid jar with brushed swag-and-hanging-flower decoration on the front and reverse, paired with a two-gallon cylindrical jar with four large clover motifs brushed around the body. Both impressed with Peter Herrmann maker's marks. One-gallon jar in very nice condition with a few minor rim chips, a faint horizontal line at base (not visible on interior), a short line to interior (not visible on exterior), a small base chip, and a shallow 1 3/4" in-the-firing base flake. Two-gallon jar in excellent condition with a minor nick to interior of rim and a minor chip to underside. H (of one-gallon jar) 10 3/4".
